Grasslands National ParkLocated in southwest Saskatchewan, Grasslands National Park is one of the few places in North America where you can see untouched Prairie. This wilderness sanctuary offers rolling grasslands and a rugged landscape of weathered cliffs, deep coulees and mysterious badlands. The wildlife that calls the Grasslands home is as diverse as the landscape itself. Keep your eyes open for white-tailed deer, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, sage grouse and golden eagles. The park also provides a safe home for the endangered and threatened species of ferruginous hawks, short-horned lizards and burrowing owls.

An information centre located in the village of Val Marie has a lot of information about Grasslands National Park. Browse the displays and brochures, take part in the interpretive programs, watch videos, and listen to a tour on audiocassette to enrich your visit to this piece of history. Additional information can be obtained at the Rodeo Ranch Museum located in Wood Mountain Regional Park.

Saskatchewan is the Land of Living Skies. The province was named thus because of the many different species of birds that grace its skies. Can you think of a better place for bird watching? In the summer, Saskatchewan is home to Whistling Swans, White Pelicans, Sage Grouse, Whooping Cranes, plus many more fabulous birds. In the Quill Lake region alone, more than 300 species of birds either nest or stage.

A variety of services can be found in the village of Val Marie, including bed and breakfast, café, grocery store, hotel, gift shop, public library and gas station. The Crossing Resort itself is located five kilometres south of Val Marie.
